About Me

Background
Diego Manrique is a landscape photographer based in northern Spain (León). He has traveled the world for the past ten years, especially the USA and all the National Parks there. It was not until 2020 that Diego started to get deeper into photography due to the pandemic. His current wife was based in New York while he was in Spain, so they could not see each other since the borders were closed for over two years. We could say that photography was his salvation in those hard times. It became the start of an incredible journey.

He started photographing the coastline of Asturias. Consequently, his work specialized in landscape photography, seeking to capture unique and stunning sceneries. His first trip to the Norwegian Arctic in 2021 was a turning point for him. Amazed by the spectacular fjords, their mountains, and breathtaking beaches, he focused on panoramic photography and winter landscapes.

Lately, Diego has gotten awards in many national and international photo contests. These have motivated him even more to keep exploring and loving landscape photography.
Style
I’m a panoramic photographer passionate about capturing the raw beauty of arctic landscapes. My work focuses on expansive compositions that highlight the silence, scale, and subtle light of remote northern environments. Each image is carefully edited in a fine art style to evoke mood and depth.
Achievements
My work has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, but one of the most meaningful honors was being named Photographer of the Year by the Epson International Pano Awards. You can find a full list of awards and distinctions at: manriquephoto.com/premios
Shot Story (1)
Alone in the deep silence of the arctic, I captured this panoramic image during a fleeting moment of soft winter light. Standing before the vast, snow-covered fjords, I felt both small and deeply connected to the landscape. Using multiple high-resolution frames, I composed a wide scene that reflects the scale and stillness I experienced. The lone figure in red—myself—adds a quiet human presence to the overwhelming majesty. Edited in a fine art style, this image preserves not just what I saw, but what I felt.
Shot Story (2)
This magical and beautiful panorama is a dream come true. Northern Norway and its Arctic islands don't give us many chances to get clear skies in winter. Frustration and loneliness were pondering of me these days after seven nights without a green color on the sky.
That night, a majestic aurora began to dance over the impressive mountains, embraced by a perfect foreground with its incredible texture created by the snow. The reflection enhanced the scene. It looked like the lights were posing in front of a mirror.
Shot Story (3)
In one of Iceland’s most iconic locations, I stood alone, searching for a different angle—something that felt personal amidst a scene photographed countless times. As cold winds swept across Stokksnes, I composed this image from a low perspective, allowing the water’s motion to lead the viewer into the jagged peaks beyond. Using long exposure techniques, I captured the contrast between the soft, flowing textures of the sea and the raw, immovable strength of the volcanic mountains. The final fine art edit reflects both the energy of the place and the quiet focus of the moment I experienced.
