About Me

Background
I was born and raised in Venezuela, surrounded by incredibly varied nature, which I was taught to respect and appreciate ever since my earliest of memories. Wether it was trips to the beach, colorful sunsets, hikes in the mountains, adventure drives deep into the still little explored parts of the country, to the vast array of plants and flowers in my mom's garden, nature was at the core of my upbringing.

As a kid, I played with a small point and shoot camera, not knowing that photography would eventually resurface many years later, in the form of a deep passion and love, one which would allow me to share the many wonderful sceneries I have been lucky enough to experience during my travels. I hope my images will instill a greater respect for nature, and bring a deeper appreciation for it to the viewers.
Style
As mentioned above, as a kid I toyed with a small point and shoot camera; then life got in the way, and photography took a backseat. Years later, I started to take photos during trips, eventually reigniting my love for the craft. After purchasing better equipment, I attended a few workshops, during which I met quite a few people that were instrumental in my growing interest and passion for photography. Ever since, I dedicated myself to learn as much as possible, not only in the field, but in the post processing arena as well.

Even though most of my work is in landscape, I have not shied away to keep an open mind and venture into photographing anything that catches my eye, wether it is wildlife, flowers, people and even architecture. By doing so, I feel not only has my portfolio gotten well rounded, but the diversity of subjects keeps me engaged, willing to constantly learn, and above all, most importantly, keep it fun!

Shot Story (1)
This was the most magical day I have ever spent at the Grand Canyon, the magical, mysterious light engulfing the canyon in an endless show of nature's beauty. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon had an active snowstorm moving over it for most of the day, creating a vast array of scenes to enjoy, and yes, photograph, from across on the South Rim.

I had not planned to stay at the canyon all day, so was not adequately dressed, nor did I bring any food; with the temperatures bellow freezing all day, I had to return to the car throughout the day just to thaw out a bit. As uncomfortable as the experience was, it ended up as one of my favorite days spent in nature. Photos can't quite do that day justice.
Shot Story (2)
A hiker in the distance gives a sense of scale to these stunningly lit dunes shortly after sunrise. This was one of my first important awards, and this image hangs on the wall in my house, to remind me of the beauty of nature, dunes in particular. Death Valley, California.
