About Me
Everything I know about photography is self-educated. A few books here, some internet research there, inspiration from the works of other photographers and a lot, really a lot of trying things out has brought me to where I am today.
My great happiness is my home on beautiful Lake Constance, where I have a lot of photo spots right on my doorstep and the way to the Austrian, Swiss and Italian Alps is not too far. I also love to travel to more exotic destinations on my vacation, with the north being particularly appealing to me.

(Goðafoss in winter)
I've always wanted to experience Goðafoss in winter, but when I was there I actually felt like I was in the poem by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben: it was bitterly cold, a strong wind was blowing from the north-east and it was snowing almost non-stop . While the waterfall was a spectacular sight, I wished there was some color in the sky at sunrise and sunset.
(fogwave in Baselbiet)
I had already attempted to photograph the wave of fog in the Basel area in the autumn. When you get up at three o'clock and drive 200 km, it is of course always annoying when nothing comes of it. But it is very difficult to correctly assess the local conditions from a distance. I was all the more pleased when the second attempt was much better. At first it did not look like it would be. At first the fog flowed a little over the ridge on the right, but it was still too dark for good pictures. Then the fog subsided and I feared that it might be over. But after a short time the fog rose again and flowed first over the ridge, later over the mountain tops and flowed far into the valley. And it never stopped flowing...
(Hohenzollern castle above the fog)
Finally. After countless attempts, it worked and the fog was exactly where I wanted it to be: only the castle protrudes from it, the entire mountain cone remains hidden underneath. The whole thing happened very early, about three quarters of an hour before sunrise, the stars were just beginning to fade and the sky showed the very first light of the morning. After that, the fog sank significantly. The new goal now is to capture this situation, this height of fog at the peak of the dusk just before sunrise...
