About Me

Background
I was born in the misty hills of northeastern India - an untamed cradle of forests, rain, and cultures often left out of the mainstream map. Ironically, it took the cacophony of a megapolis for me to recognize what I’d left behind. Life eventually brought me to Bangalore - a city from where weekend escapes to wild, unspoiled places became my ritual. Somewhere in that rhythm, photography found me.

My initiation into the craft wasn’t immediate or romantic. I wandered for nearly a decade with point-and-shoots and pixel-starved phone cameras, more a collector of regrets than results. In 2017, I finally bought my first DSLR, and something just clicked - both in me and in the shutter. Since then, the journey has taken me from Himalayan and Patagonian peaks to the fjords of New Zealand and Norway, often to places still unnamed on Google Maps.

Now, photography is no longer about chasing likes or perfect skies - it’s about solace, stillness, and a deep sense of gratitude. As a full-time dad and engineering professional, I try balance product delivery by day and compositions by sunrise. It’s even more fulfilling now, with my daughter embracing hiking and nature, sometimes drawing beside me as I wait for light to spill magic.
Style
I’m a firm believer that every photograph is a quiet window into the photographer’s state of mind. For me, that state is often shaped by a desire for calm, clarity, and a sense of balance - things I actively seek through both travel and photography. I plan most of my shots meticulously, not just in terms of light or weather, but in choosing places that offer solitude and emotional depth.

My work gravitates toward colorful, sweeping landscapes - vistas that feel expansive yet grounding. I don’t shoot monochrome because I find too much joy in the language of color. Lately, I’ve been exploring quieter, more intimate compositions - minimalist frames that demand more inward reflection - and they’ve proven deeply rewarding. But at heart, I’m drawn to nature’s drama: the play of light across mountains, the dance of clouds at dusk, and the serenity of wild places unbothered by time.
Achievements
I’ve never been a regular on the competition circuit, except for the Epson Pano Awards, which I've followed even before I knew what dynamic range meant. In 2019, I received a Silver and a few Bronzes. In 2020, three Silvers followed. But it was 2023 that stood out. I placed 3rd in the Built Environment category and picked up 2 Golds, 6 Silvers, and additional Bronzes.

Beyond Epson, I’ve had Honorable Mentions and final shortlistings in the International Photography Awards (IPA), Chromatic Awards, and ND Awards.
Shot Story (1)
This image was a decade-long dream: To-ji, Kyoto’s oldest pagoda, still standing tall after a thousand years and countless earthquakes. I had just one evening, one chance, and as fate would have it, the sky erupted in color. Japan has long inspired me for its balance of tradition and innovation, and this shot felt like a visual metaphor for exactly that.
Shot Story (2)
Inspired by a master I admire, I waited here for hours in the rain while my daughter sketched in the temple corridor. The light was dull, the skies were grey - until just before dark, when a soft, eerie glow appeared behind the temple. That moment transformed the scene from flat to magical. A personal favorite from one of my favorite places.
