About Me

Background
I grew up in the Midwest, where the land is pretty flat and familiar—but visiting the Pacific Northwest as a kid opened my eyes to something totally different. The mountains, the forests, the coast—it sparked something in me. I realized pretty quickly that I needed that kind of landscape in my life. I slowly started to capture it.

Landscape photography started as a way to spend more time in nature, and it still is. I’m not out chasing extreme conditions—I just love being there when nature transforms into something magical. It’s those calm, beautiful moments that make me feel most like myself. That’s what keeps me coming back with my camera again and again.
Style
My style leans toward clean, balanced compositions with a focus on natural light and seasonal atmosphere. I’m drawn to scenes that feel calm, immersive, and honest—whether it’s soft morning mist over a lake or desert light falling just right on a ridgeline. I tend to avoid overly dramatic edits; I want the image to feel true to what it was like to stand there in that moment.

I shoot primarily with a wide-angle lens and a tripod, taking my time to line up a composition that feels intentional. I often revisit locations in different conditions and seasons—there’s always something new to notice. More than anything, I aim to capture a feeling: that quiet sense of awe you get when you’re in a place that makes you slow down and just take it in.
Achievements
I’ve been fortunate to have awarded images in every year I’ve entered the Epson International Pano Awards, with a few featured in the 2022 and 2023 awards books. My work has also received multiple Honorable Mentions in the Fine Art Photography Awards.

In print, I’ve been published in Visit Montana Magazine and was included in the 2024 edition of Ineffable, an annual book showcasing photography from Central Oregon.
Shot Story (1)
This image was taken in January 2023 during a high wind warning at the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley. I thought the conditions might be epic—and they were—but keeping everything sand-free was the real challenge. I tried to cover my face, eyes, and camera as best I could, but the wind still managed to get into everything.

With each gust, the sand carved graceful lines across the dunes and lifted off the ridges in constant motion. As sunset approached, the light hit just right—illuminating the flying sand and casting soft, abstract shadows across the landscape. Sea of Sand captures that moment of movement and light coming together in a way that felt both chaotic and beautifully serene.
