About Me

Background
Fine art landscape photographer based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been photographing since my first camera, a Soviet FED rangefinder, at the age of 12. Today I shoot panoramic landscapes around the world, from Iceland and Norway to Namibia and the American Southwest. Between 2013 and 2022 my work earned 142 awards and honors in international competitions. Every image is released as a signed, numbered limited edition.
Style
Panoramic fine art landscape photography, built around colour, dramatic light and rare atmospheric moments: black sand beaches under blue-hour skies, glaciers under aurora, desert trees under one of the darkest night skies on Earth. I look for conditions that do not repeat, and I wait for them.
Achievements
Gold Award in the Nature category at the Epson International Pano Awards 2016 ("Black Sands Opera") and 2018 ("Rise A Night"). Winner of the Gigapixel Special Award, Pano Awards 2014 ("North Aurora"), plus Silver and Bronze Awards in the Nature category in 2014–2021. Other honors include Gold Medal (1st place) at the Chromatic Awards 2017, Gold at the New York Photography Awards 2021, Gold at the One Eyeland Photography Awards 2020, and the International Color Awards 2015 Winner.
Shot Story (1)
"Black Sands Opera" (Gold, 2016) was photographed at Stokksnes, on Iceland's southeast coast, where the peaks of Vestrahorn rise straight out of a black sand beach. I made it in the half-hour between sunset and sunrise, when the sky holds a deep blue that is almost never visible in daylight and the mountain separates cleanly from the darkening sky. At that latitude the window closes fast and never repeats the same way twice.
Shot Story (2)
"Rise A Night" (Gold, 2018) was shot at Deadvlei in Namibia, next to the NamibRand Nature Reserve, Africa's first Gold Tier International Dark Sky Reserve. On a clear, moonless night the Milky Way there is bright enough to cast a faint shadow. The centuries-dead camel thorn trees stand as black silhouettes against a dense sky of stars, which is a very different Deadvlei from the pale-clay daytime pictures most people know.
Shot Story (3)
"North Aurora" (Gigapixel Special Award, 2014) shows the aurora borealis over an Icelandic glacier. It needed two unpredictable things at once: a strong enough aurora to hold its green colour through a long exposure, and glacier ice pale enough to register without washing out the sky. Clear, dark, aurora-active nights in Iceland are genuinely rare, so everything had to line up that night.
