About Me

Background
My love for landscape photography grew out of a fascination with the night sky. There’s something about being out in the mountains, far away from city lights, watching the Milky Way rise above a landscape that never really gets old for me. It’s one of the reasons I keep returning to the Himalayas with my camera.
Astrophotography has changed the way I look at landscapes. I no longer see the mountains, the sky, or the light as separate elements. I’m drawn to the way they come together, especially at night, when a familiar landscape can feel like an entirely different world. Some of my favourite experiences have been spent in places like Ladakh and Zanskar, waiting in the cold for the sky to reveal itself.
For me, photography is as much about the experience of being there as it is about the final image. I want to keep exploring unfamiliar places, learning more about the night sky, and creating photographs that make people pause for a moment and look up. There’s still so much out there that I haven’t seen, and that’s probably what excites me the most.
Style
My work explores the relationship between the Earth and the cosmos through astro-landscape photography. I’m drawn to remote landscapes, especially the Himalayas, where the Milky Way, natural textures, and subtle ambient light come together in a single frame. Through thoughtful composition, star tracking, and careful post-processing, I aim to capture the scale and quiet beauty of these places while preserving their natural character. More than documenting a scene, I want my photographs to reflect the feeling of standing beneath a vast night sky and experiencing the landscape in its rawest form.
Achievements
My astrophotography and landscape work has received recognition through several international competitions and photography platforms. Some of my notable achievements include an Honorable Mention at the International Photography Awards (IPA), an Honorable Mention at the Academy Photo Awards 2025, and wins in the Polaris Astronomy Lunar Eclipse Photography Contest and Titan’s Explore the Unexplored competition.

My work was also recognised among the Top 20 at 35AWARDS 2025, placed in the Top 3% in the Starry Sky category at 35AWARDS, and in the Top 2% in Universe Exploration: Through the Lens. My photographs have been featured by NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), Astronomy Magazine, Sky & Telescope, Sony, AAPOD2, National Geographic, and Move Shoot Move.

Beyond competitions and publications, I founded Light N Lens, a photography initiative dedicated to connecting people through exhibitions, workshops, and photography tours. Organising astro-landscape photography workshops in remote Himalayan destinations such as Ladakh and Zanskar has become an important part of my journey, allowing me to share my passion for the night sky and help others discover the experience of photographing it.
Shot Story (1)
I had captured a similar frame during an earlier trip to Zanskar, but while leading the Zanskar Photography Workshop 2025, I wanted to approach the scene differently. This time, I experimented with incorporating H-alpha details into the Milky Way to bring out the intricate structures and add more depth to the image.

I also decided to step away from my usual approach to astro-panorama photography. I’ve always gravitated towards capturing the Milky Way as a sweeping arch, but for this image, I tried a long vertical panorama for the very first time. It was a new challenge, both in terms of composition and execution, and a chance to see this familiar landscape from a completely different perspective.
